Shillong, Apr 18: Shillong Lajong won their first home match of the Junior League Shillong-Guwahati Zone 2-1 over Numaligarh Refinery Limited Football Academy here today.
Lajong’s goals were scored on either side of half time by Benjamin Diengdoh (24′, 51′), which made him the club’s top scorer at present with three goals. NRL then got a goal back in the 56th minute via Rohit Soibam.
Both teams ended the match with only 10 players on the pitch, however, as the hosts’ Henryford Nongneng and visitors’ Akash Chaura were shown red cards.
With two wins and a draw, Lajong are currently at the top of the zonal standings with seven points, one ahead of Gauhati Town Club, who have played one less match. SLFC will next take on NorthEast United at home on 22nd April.
