Shillong, Oct 31: Ryntih swept to a 3-0 victory over Langsning in a fight for third position in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium here today.
Before today’s match Ryntih were leading defending champions Langsning by a point, 14 to 13. In the first leg Langsning had edged Ryntih 1-0 on 24th August.
Today Robert Khongjoh (39′), Manbha Iawphniaw (47′) and Sheen Sohktung (49′) scored for Ryntih.
Langsning were seriously on the back foot in the first half, with Ryntih piling on the pressure as the defending champs struggled to defend. One particular melee saw Khongjoh’s shot slip over the line before Langsning could clear the ball.
Ryntih missed plenty of other chances in the first half, but they got two golden opportunities to further extend their lead early in the second half and they latched on to these.
Langsning gave away the ball foolishly to allow Iawphniaw to score Ryntih’s second goal and the third came about after a Restom Khriam free-kick, which Sohktung put into the back of the net.
This is the first time that Ryntih have scored three goals and they did it on the birthday of their coach Wallam Kharpran. They now have 17 points from 10 matches, one behind Shillong Lajong, who have a game in hand. Langsning stay fourth with 13 points.
On Saturday Nangkiew Irat are scheduled to face Shillong Lajong at 2:45PM.
