Shillong, Nov 29: Lumniwar started their Meghalaya State League 2019 campaign with a resounding 4-0 victory over Umrit in Group A in Jowai today.
Michael Marwein scored a hat-trick in the only match of the day, pumping in goals in the third, 38th and 69th minutes at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium. Rickyson Makdoh added a fourth in the 84th and Lumniwar were also able to keep a clean sheet.
Marwein was deservedly adjudged to be the man-of-the-match.
Tomorrow 16 teams will be in action, with two games to be played in each of the four venues.
