Shillong, Jan 22: Meghalaya runners had another successful Mumbai Marathon on Sunday, with Tlanding Wahlang finishing first in the men’s 40-44 age group, according to results published on the race’s official website.
Tlanding Wahlang, who is the recipient of the Kiang Nangbah Award for sports this year, finished with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 9 seconds, which was more than one minute faster than his 2019 time at the same event.
In the women’s 70-74 category, grandmother Kmoin Wahlang clocked in at 4:44:09, just 10 minutes slower than her time from last year. She was almost exactly two hours quicker than the only other finisher in her age group. Kmoin Wahlang’s time would have even been fast enough to put her third in the 60-64 category.
Meanwhile, Gerald Pde (3:01:04) finished second in the men’s 45-49 age group, while Snora Lyngkhoi (3:55:14) was third in the corresponding women’s category.
Third place was also bagged by Swonding Mawlong (3:22:30) in the men’s 55-59 age group. Last year he was in the 50-54 bracket where he also finished third.
