Shillong, Aug 17: Tender documents will be finalised by the end of this month and work will be allotted by October for the PA Sangma Integrated Sports Complex in Tura, according to plans by the Meghalaya government.
In his Independence Day speech in Shillong on Saturday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that Rs 125 crore will be invested in the Tura project, which will be completed by the first half of 2022.
Meanwhile, the designs for the JN Integrated Sports Complex in Shillong, which is also to be built at a cost of Rs 125 crore, have been finalised. The government is also planning to construct a football stadium in Wahiajer, West Jaintia Hills for Rs 25 crore and invest in other sports infrastructure in rural areas on which Rs 50 crore will be spent in the next three years.
Meghalaya is meant to host the 2022 National Games, though the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and delays in other states from hosting their editions of the Games could push that back.
