Shillong, Jun 1: Friends United of Sohra and Mawryngkneng CC qualified for the semifinals of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s T20 Tournament from Group B.
Friends United were scheduled to play in the first of today’s matches but the game was abandoned due to rain, so they and Marbisu split points.
The second fixture was reduced to 10 overs a side between Pomshutia CC and Sohra Combine CC. Pomshutia won the toss and batted first, making 102/4 in 10 overs. Pherson Diengdoh top-scored with 28 not out of 17 deliveries and Gary Kynta (pictured) made 17 from 10.
In the chase, Pomshutia were restricted to 80/4. Banshaniah Pohchu made 28 from 15 and Aristerwell Suting 27 from 19. Shanbor Kharshiing bagged 2/11 while Kynta took 1/17 and was named player-of-the-match.
Both semifinals will be held tomorrow. In the first, at 9:30AM, Nongdawah CC will face Mawryngkneng CC while Friends United will take on Cricket Lovers at 12:40PM.
