Shillong, May 31: The Chief Minister’s State Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2023 kicked off here today at the SAI Centre at NEHU with Ri-Bhoi winning three gold medals.
All 12 districts are participating and have sent 818 athletes to take part in the U-14, U-16 and U-18 track and field events for boys and girls. There are a further 98 technical officials and 36 team officials as well.
Isawanda Laloo, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the three-day event, which will conclude on 2nd June.
The meet was opened with the unfurling of the departmental flag by Laloo, in the company of Meghalaya State Olympic Association working president John F Kharshiing, Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Paia B War Nongbri and other officials of the department.
The athletes’ oath was also taken on behalf of all participants.
