Shillong, Sep 25: Umsohsun SC defeated Mawklot SC 3-0 for their first win in Group C of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2023 at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
Prior to today, Umsohsun had only scored one goal in four matches.
However, this time they found the back of the net three times late in the 70-minute game through Khrawkupar Roi Syiemlieh (54′), Donkam Marngar (58′) and Banteilang Thabah (66′).
The result lifts Umsohsun off the bottom rung of Group C and they now have 4 points and are in sixth place, dropping Mawklot, with 2 points, to seventh and last position.
There’ll be just the one game tomorrow but it’s an important one between Umrynjah SC and Mawlynrei SC in Group A. Umrynjah currently have 13 points and Mawlynrei 12. A win for the former would put them through to the quarterfinals but victory for Mawlynrei would still leave them waiting to see what Iatyllilang SC (also 12 points) do in their last group fixture.
