Shillong, Jul 8: The East Khasi Hills athletics team that represented the district and won the title of Overall Champions at the State Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2024 were felicitated for their stellar performance on Saturday.
At the end of the three-day event in May, EKH secured 12 gold medals, six silver and three bronze. Besides winning the overall title, EKH were the girls’ champions having won eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
The team was selected through a coaching camp organised by the District Sports Office in collaboration with the East Khasi Hills District Athletics Association.
Held at the Second Ground in Polo, the camp saw participation from 76 students who had won gold and silver medals at the District Level Inter School Athletic Meet. Out of these, 63 students were chosen by the coaches to represent East Khasi Hills at the state-level competition.
The felicitation was graced by EKH Additional Deputy Commissioner Ronnieson Wahlang as the chief guest and Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John F Kharshiing as guest of honour.
