Shillong, Jul 16: Madanrting SC, Riatsamthiah SC and Nongkolew SC all won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo here today.
Madanrting and Riatsamthiah both conceded first before defeating Lumpyngngad SC 5-2 in Group A and Lumkseh SC 4-1 in Group E respectively. Nongkolew, also in Group E, had no such issues versus Laitumkhrah SC, winning their meeting 2-0.
In the early kick-off Ioanis Sangma (15′) put Lumpyngngad into the lead of the 70-minute match but Madanrting responded well with Arki Kshiar (35’+1, 57, 69) becoming the sixth person to score a hat-trick this season. Modern Pyngrope (41′) and Annand Kharkongor (52′) also found the back of the net for Madanrting before Lumpyngngad earned a consolation goal in stoppage time through Ruby Daimary (70’+1).
This match had been scheduled for 1st July but was postponed to today. The win moves Madanrting up to second in Group A, though third-placed Umrynjah SC have a game in hand.
Later, Borsing Marboh (5′) gave Lumkseh the lead but Wanphrangjingshai Shabong (12′) equalised for Riatsamthiah soon after. The first half ended 1-1 but a brace by Jonewest Mawiong (44′, 69′) and an own goal by a Lumkseh player in the 66th minute saw Riatsamthiah carry away all 3 points.
The last match of the day then saw Pynshai Kharwanniang (11′) and Pynshngain Mujai (25′) score twice for Nongkolew against Laitumkhrah in the first half and there were no other goals after that.
Nongkolew now have the lead in Group E based on goal difference, while Riatsamthiah are third but remain in the hunt with a game in hand.
