Shillong, Aug 20: Umlyngka SC trounced Krang SC 7-2 in Group B of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match of the day, in Group C, saw Umpling SC defeat Gorkha Association 3-1.
Krang had already lost their opener 5-0 to Lumparing SC on 3rd August but this time managed to at least get a couple of goals of their own.
Adelbert Kharjana (87′, 90’+2, 90’+3) scored the first hat-trick of the season with late goals but by that time Umlyngka had already done enough to secure victory. They started with Donboklang Kharjana (23′) and Pynshai Warjri (40′) scoring in the first half but Kyrpanglang Mawlong (37′) had scored for Krang to make the scoreline read 2-1 at half time.
In the second half Jolly Hynniewta (70′) and Donboklang (75′) pushed Umlyngka further ahead, to 4-1, before Kynsaining Kharthangmaw (82′) reduced the margin for Krang. It was then that Adelbert bagged his treble in the space of six minutes to allow Umlyngka to romp home to victory. Umlyngka now lead Group B with 4 points from two games.
Later, we had to wait more than an hour before any goals were scored in the Group C encounter.
Jonas Nongbri (64′, 77′) recorded two and Henry Suting (75′) one for Umpling before Gorkha Association responded via Ritwik Pradhan (79′).
Umpling are the first team to register two wins and have 6 points. On the other hand, this was Gorkha Association’s first game.
