Shillong, Oct 4: Nagaland and Sikkim will meet in the final of the 1st Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament, organised by the North East Cricket Development Council and hosted by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, on Saturday.
The final is scheduled to begin at 10am, weather permitting. Live scores and a livestream of the action can be followed on cricheroes.in.
The two semifinals had to be shifted to today, the reserve day, at the Pahamsning Cricket Ground near Nongpoh, but the continuing rainfall meant that it was not possible to hold full matches.
Instead, the first semifinal between Meghalaya and Nagaland was decided by a ‘Bowl Out’, where bowlers from each team stepped up to the crease and tried to knock down the stumps at the other end. It was a tense few minutes for each side and Nagaland came out narrowly 2-1 to progress to the title match.
The second semi was between Sikkim and Manipur and this was decided by a ‘Super Over’. Pranita Chettri’s excellent bowling for Sikkim and good fielding restricted Manipur to a run-a-ball 6/0. In the chase, Samayita Roy Prodhan hit all the runs required for Sikkim, including a boundary, in just four balls.
The two finalists have already met once in this tournament as they both emerged from Group B. Sikkim had beaten Nagaland by 4 wickets on the second day and Nagaland will now have a chance to turn the tables as both states seek to be the champions of the inaugural NECDC Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament.
