Shillong, Oct 21: Nongkseh SC defeated Mylliem SC 2-1 in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
Earlier, Umphyrnai SC and Lawsohtun SC played out a 1-1 draw.
Arbandelness Khongsni (29′) put Umphyrnai in front in under half an hour and while Lawsohtun had their chances to get back into the game, they had to wait until deep into stoppage time before Kitboklang Pale (90’+8) found them an equaliser.
Both teams had lost their opening matches, so this result gave them their first point of the season.
Later, Nongkseh scored via Chesterpaul Lyngdoh (36′) and Imminstar Mawlong (66′), the latter just a few minutes after Hameshwa Marngar (63′) had briefly equalised for Mylliem.
Both these teams had won their opening fixture and now Nongkseh have a full 6 points from two games and lead the points table; Nongkseh are tied with Mawtawar SC in terms of points but have a better goal difference (+4 to +2).
