Shillong, Jan 7: YBSC Shella romped to a 6-2 victory against Smit SC in the second match of the 1st Invitational Football Knockout Tournament 2024-2025, organised by the Seng Samla Mawmluh Smit, yesterday.
Meding (no second name given) scored four goals in all – 56th, 63rd, 78th and 80th minutes – and was named Player of the Match.
YBSC Shella dominated from the first whistle and took the lead in the 10th minute through Banmanbha Mawiong and doubled it via Andy Lapang (19′). Before halftime, however, Shanmeiaki Warlarpih (30′) pulled one back for Smit.
That still left YBSC Shella leading 2-1 and Meding then scored his first to make it 3-1 before Shanmeiaki (60′) again reduced the deficit.
It was at that point that YBSC Shella ran away with the game, with Meding scoring three in a row to claim a resounding victory.
The third match will take place on 14th January between Synroplang FC and Nongtraw Wahlong FC.
