Shillong, Mar 29: A peerless century by Ajay Duhan helped Rangkynsai CC to defeat Royal CC by 73 runs in the second semifinal of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here today.
Rangkynsai were the Group B toppers, while Royal CC were runners-up in Group A.
The toss was won by Royal CC, who chose to field. Ajay’s 108 from 97 balls was crucial as his contribution made up more than 50% of Rangkynsai’s 198 all out in 42.5 overs. For the Royals, Bipin Ray took 3/42 in 9 overs and Abhishek Kumar 2/24 in 7.5.
In reply, Royal CC were rolled over for just 125 in 37.5 overs. Swastik Chettri’s 32 from 47 deliveries was the top score. Chaman Pushp (3/17 in 8 overs) and Aryan Bora (3/30 in 9) were the most successful Rangkynsai bowlers.
Ajay (pictured left), who also took a wicket, was named Player of the Match.
The final will take place on Monday between Sputnik CC and Rangkynsai. Sputnik had won the first semifinal against Nongmensong CC yesterday.
The two finalists both emerged from Group B and have already met once this season, with Rangkynsai winning by the narrowest of margins during the round robin stage earlier this month.
