Shillong, Mar 31: The U-17 team from Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School in Ri-Bhoi secured third place in the second edition of the Indo-French Football Tournament, which was held from 25th to 29th March in Paris.
Myngken Christian were chosen for this tournament after finishing as runners-up in last year’s Subroto Cup.
Prior to their Paris campaign, the team underwent intensive training under coach Bobby L Nongbet, assistant coach Kitborlang Kharlukhi and manager Carmelius Ramshon.
The 16-member squad, fully sponsored by the Meghalaya government, competed against French clubs FC Versailles (who finished in first place), Sarcelles FC (second) and Grigny FC (fourth).
The Meghalaya team had beaten Grigny on the first day of the tournament.
