Shillong, Jun 29: Mawkasiang held off Lapalang for a 2-1 win in Group C of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday while Mawshbuit dealt a blow to Thynroit’s hopes by winning 3-0 in Group A.
The other match of the day was a 0-0 draw between Them Rangshken and Pynthorbah in Group B.
Sensational goals were provided by Mawkasiang’s Kyrmenskhem Mukhim (3′) and Damanbha Kharjana (8′) inside the first 10 minutes, while Banjop Pohlong (45′) equalised early in the second half of the 80-minute match with a beautiful strike of his own. However, he would later be denied a penalty after a brilliant diving save by Mawkasiang goalkeeper Pyndapborlang Kharmalki.
The win took Mawkasiang to the top of Group C with 6 points from two outings. Lapalang dropped to second; they have 4 points from three games.
Across 36 matches of the 2025 edition there had never been a goalless draw before the encounter between Them Rangshken and Pynthorbah. The former stay at the top of the points table with 7 from three matches, while Pynthorbah are third with 2 points from three.
Lastly, in the evening match-up, Mawshbuit picked up their first 3 points with victory over Thynroit. Ezra Ryntathiang (16′) scored in the first half with team mates Lawthangsang Gangte (48′) and Lurshai Wankhar (76′) following in the second.
Mawshbuit jumped to second place in Group A with this win; they now have 4 points from three outings. Thynroit dropped to third with 3 points from three games.
