Shillong, Nov 16: Sukhman Singh shot four over 74 today in the first round of the Indian Golf Union Shillong Junior Boys Golf Championship 2021, which is being held at Shillong Golf Course, for a one shot lead in Category A.

Sukhman, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, used a par on the ninth hole to propel him into the back nine where he played two over to open a one shot lead over Delhi’s Krishnav Nikhil Chopra and Haryana native Jai Bahal.

In Category B, it’s a complete deadlock at the top as Maharashtra’s Aryaman Singh and Karnataka-based Mahir Rakhra both shot six over 76 to share the lead. The battle for third place in this division is much the same story, as Yuavan Khubchandani and Ved Kakatkar, both from Maharashtra, shared third place following rounds of nine over 79.

Sukhman, on the merit of shooting the best score today, leads in the A&B combined division, followed by Chopra and Bahal. Following the first round, 13 out of 36 golfers have missed the cut.
