Shillong, Jul 31: Umrynjah made it three wins in three games to book their place in the quarterfinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025. They defeated Lumparing 3-1 in Group C at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.

The Group B points table after today’s match

Banshemphang Nongkhlaw (16′) gave Umrynjah the lead after meeting a neat little chipped ball forward, chesting it down before firing it into the back of the net.

Umrynjah have previously won 5-2 and 8-0 but Lumparing weren’t going to be rolled over quite so easily and it was the latter who had a string of reasonable chances without being able to convert any.

Lumparing finally got the equaliser by way of a penalty, which Imeral Jana converted in the 67th minute.

However, just 60 seconds later, Wanborlang Nongbri (68′) threaded the ball through a tiny gap between Lumparing players to restore Umrynjah’s lead. A blinding one touch shot from outside the box by substitute Sainborlang Jyrwa (90’+2) secured the win for Umrynjah.

This was Lumparing’s last match and they end their season in the mid-table with 5 points. This was their only defeat of the campaign and a win today would have put them into the quarterfinals but it wasn’t to be.

Although there are still two matches to be played in this group, Umrynjah and Umlyngka have done enough to qualify for the last-eight. The top two have still to meet, while the other game will be between Rynjah and Imson to see who avoids relegation.

Tomorrow’s fixtures:
Third Division – Group B – Imson vs Rynjah, 1PM
Fourth Division – QF 3 – Mawkasiang vs Mawphlang, 3:30PM
