Shillong, Aug 24: Meghalaya exited the U-17 girls’ category of the Subroto Cup 2025 with a narrow 1-0 loss to Kerala win the quarterfinals in New Delhi this morning.

Meghalaya were being represented by Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School of Ri-Bhoi at the tournament.

They had defeated the International Sports Schools Organisation, Chandigarh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu in Pool D to qualify for the last-eight where they went up against the Pool C winners Kerala.

Against strong opposition, the Meghalaya girls were unable to pierce the defence today. Kerala were only able to score once but it was enough to give them victory and a place in the semifinals.

The goal came about in the 63rd minute after a goal kick taken by a defender went straight to a Kerala player, who struck it high towards the goal. Meghalaya’s goalkeeper managed to get a glove to it but another Kerala player was waiting for the rebound and scored from close range.
