Shillong, Jan 29: A review meeting was held yesterday regarding the 39th National Games 2027, which Meghalaya is meant to host.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a high-level review on preparations for the Games. The meeting was held via video conference across New Delhi, Shillong and elsewhere.

Mandaviya was joined by Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Meghalaya’s Sports & Youth Affairs Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar D in Delhi. Meghalaya Chief Secretary Shakil P Ahammed, other state civil servants and representatives of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association were in Shillong for the meeting. As the Games will also have certain other disciplines in other North East states, their representatives also attended.

According to Meghalaya’s Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, “focused discussions” on overall readiness and coordination were held as the state aims to deliver a world-class National Games experience.
