Shillong, Nov 9: Nongrim Hills ended their first season in the Shillong Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Nangkiew Irat at the JN Stadium here today.

In the first leg Nongrim had defeated Nangkiew 2-1.

Today both goals were scored via penalties, with Nikelson Bina putting Nongrim into the lead in the 16th minute while Nangkiew equalised through Banshan Nongdhar in the 57th.

Nangkiew had to play most of the match with 10 players after Shaibor Nongrum picked up two yellow cards by the 25th minute. Nongrim, too, had a player sent off – Mebanshan Suting – towards the end of the game.

This was the first point that Nangkiew have earned in the second leg and brings an end to their five-match losing streak. Nongrim, for their part, were pushing for a victory to ensure they can’t be relegated. However, the draw keeps the relegation battle alive until next week as Nangkiew are still to play Laban. Nongrim currently have 11 points while Nangkiew have nine.

On Tuesday Shillong Lajong will face Ryntih at 2:45PM.
