Shillong, Sep 16: Mawlai had their hearts in their mouths on several occasions but held off a strong challenge from defending champions Langsning in a 0-0 draw in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at the SSA Stadium here this evening.

The result takes Mawlai back to the top of the standings with 11 points now from five games. They are tied with Shillong Lajong but have a healthier goal difference (+7 to +1). Langsning remain in third, but now with 10 points.

Langsning almost had the lead twice in the first five minutes with a Syed Ahmed header from a corner kick by Allen Lyngdoh Nongbri going off a Mawlai player and onto the woodwork. Then, in the same play, Ahmed had another go but this time the ball was hooked away by a defender.

Deep in the second half Langsning almost snatched 3 points, with a long-range Samuel Phawa strike bouncing off the crossbar and coming down still in play. Wadajied Kynsai Ryngkhlem was in the perfect spot for the rebound but as he leapt into the air he headed the ball over.

Tomorrow’s match will be between Nangkiew Irat and Rangdajied United at 3PM.
