Shillong, Oct 27: Jakrem SC came from a goal down to beat Kemp FC 3-2 in Group C of the 2026-27 Indian Women’s League 2 at the SSA Stadium here today.
Jakrem coach Janbor Marbaniang named an unchanged starting lineup from the win against the AIFF TDS Academy.
Kemp made a dream start, with Puja Pachi (1′) finding the net in the opening minute to put her side ahead. Jakrem goalkeeper Banrisha Wahlang was called into action in the 10th minute, while Kemp’s Aruni Singh produced a save two minutes later to deny Jakrem an equaliser.
Jakrem continued to push forward and their efforts paid off in the 20th minute when Darishisha Kharlyngdoh’s well-struck free-kick beat the Kemp FC goalkeeper to level the score.
Five minutes later, Marbarin Nongrum put Jakrem ahead by finishing off an attacking move following Makrisha Songthiang’s initial attempt, which was saved by Aruni Singh. Kemp continued to threaten, with Puja and Serbirika Terangpi coming close before the break. Jakrem also had to remain alert defensively, with Rimika Khongkai making a crucial intervention in stoppage time to deny Puja a scoring opportunity.
Kemp FC came out determined in the second half and restored parity through Aarushi Santosh in the 56th minute.
However, Jakrem refused to back down. Makrisha, who had already contributed to the team’s attacking efforts, stepped up to score the winning goal and restore Jakrem’s advantage.
Both goalkeepers had important roles to play throughout the match. Banrisha produced several crucial saves for Jakrem, including efforts from a corner and a free-kick, while Aruni denied Darishisha from another free-kick in the 75th minute.
Kemp pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but Jakrem held firm through eight minutes of added time to secure a memorable 3-2 victory.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the AIFF TDS Academy drew 1-1 with Mumbai Knights FC. Vanisree MK (45’+1) for the TDS Academy and Geetika Negi (63′) for Mumbai Knights.
Jakrem will play their final group match against Mumbai Knights on 29th October at 2:30PM. Kemp will face AIFF TDS at 9AM on the same day.
