Shillong, Oct 27: Meghalaya guest professional Ajay Duhan (pictured) hit his maiden double century in first-class cricket against Mizoram today, finally falling for a monumental 239 in Nadiad, Gujarat, today.
Resuming on 167 not out with Meghalaya on 385/2 in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 plate group match, Ajay and Kishan (144 not out overnight) continued on their merry way, with the scoreboard eventually reading 490 before Kishan was run out for 198 (283 deliveries, 24x4s).
Theirs was a huge third wicket partnership of 413, made over 92.5 overs together.
The innings was turned on its head from then on, as Meghalaya could not string together a decent partnership after that, with all eight wickets falling for 72 runs. Ajay (24x4s, 6x6s) was out for 239 from 351 balls. Kuldip Yadav was the best of the Mizoram bowlers, having taken 4/62.
The pitch in Nadiad continued to remain good for batting, with Mizoram opener Lalhruaizela making 51 and Chinmay Sutar 34 not out. It was the former who was dismissed off the last ball of the day, with his wicket and that of Sahil Reza (13) both claimed by Meghalaya fast bowler Abhishek Kumar (2/23).
At stumps Mizoram were 99/2 in 37 overs, still trailing by 463 runs.
