Shillong, Sep 10: Wolbetstar Ramsiej won Meghalaya’s first medal at the 33rd East Zone Junior Athletics Championship, which began in Patna today.

Ramsiej claimed bronze in the U-20 boys’ 5,000 metres with a time of 15 minutes, 47 seconds.

He is also set to take part in the 10,000m race at the championship, which will run until Monday. He has participated in several 10km races in Meghalaya, including the 25th June race in Shillong to celebrate International Olympic Day, where he came third.

Ramsiej is one of a 27-member team (16 male and 11 female) sent to Patna by the Meghalaya Athletics Association.
