Shillong, Oct 15: The inaugural Futsal Club Championship, the national-level tournament for indoor football, will not be held in Shillong, as had originally been planned, with New Delhi gaining instead.

However, Meghalaya state champions Niaw Wasa will take part in the 16-team championship, which will run from 5th to 13th November.

No official reason has been given for the change in host city, but issues with Shillong venues were known to be a hurdle.

The Meghalaya State Futsal League was held at the Sports Authority of India campus at NEHU but it, apparently, wasn’t suitable for the nationals. The indoor stadium at the JN Sports Complex is just plain awful and other potential locations also had enough drawbacks to apparently force the All India Football Federation to move the event elsewhere.
