Shillong, Feb 22: Langsning CC held off NFU CC’s bowlers to record a two-wicket win in the first semifinal of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division to qualify for the title match here today.

The day started well for NFU after they won the toss and chose to bat. However, only Neetesh Sharma (51 runs, 6 fours, 1 six) really managed to get going as Langsning’s bowlers harried the opposition batsmen. NFU managed to score at just over four runs an over to finish on 163/9 in the regulation 40 overs.

Sanvert B Kurkalang (3-17) and Donald R Nongkseh (3-44) were particularly deadly with the ball today.

In reply, Langsning also lost several wickets, but were able to get over the line with eight balls to spare. Parveen Katty top-scored with 37, while Javed Jyrwa struck 31. Ashif Khan (3-23) returned the best figures for NFU, while Sharma returned with the ball to take 2 for 30 in an all-round performance.

Tomorrow Sputnik CC will face Sumer CC in the second semifinal match.
