Shillong, Jul 30: The Meghalaya Cricket Association’s (MCA) technical committee has made its selection for the first comprehensive list of the 75 probables who will represent the state in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group and Vijay Hazare Trophy for the 2018-19 season.
The actual names of the players were not, however, released by the MCA in its press release issued last night.
The players will undergo physical and endurance tests from 8th August at the MCA Cricket Ground here.
For the first time in its history Meghalaya will be represented in the Ranji Trophy, albeit in a ‘B Division’ comprising the smaller states of the country. Inclusion in the Ranji and Vijay Hazare Trophies will also mean that the state will be fielding players in all domestic cricket categories for men and women.
Age-level screening
Meanwhile, the MCA will also start its screening/selection process for U-16 and U-19 boys. This will be done in two venues – Shillong (for Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi) and Tura (for Garo Hills) – on 4th and 5th August from 8AM onwards.
Players who have represented their affiliated clubs or districts need to report at the ground on the said dates and bring along the required documents and cricket gear.
Screening/selection for the U-19 women’s team will take place in Shillong on 11th August.
