Shillong, Oct 15: After their narrow defeat by one run to Sikkim yesterday Meghalaya were given a tough lesson by giants Gujarat, who won their Women’s U-19 T20 League match by 103 runs in Perecherla, Andhra Pradesh, today.
Winning the toss is probably the only thing that went Meghalaya’s way and they chose to put Gujarat in to bat first.
With their openers both making 40s, Gujarat were able to post a total of 138/2 in their 20 overs. Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai (1/30) and Dasanbaniewkor Wahlang (1/32) were Meghalaya’s wicket-takers.
In the chase Meghalaya were unable to make any headway against the Gujarat bowlers and could only make 35/9 in their 20 overs. No batsman managed to get into double figures, with Extras providing the most number of runs for Meghalaya – 11.
Meghalaya will face another big team on Wednesday when they take on Andhra Pradesh in Guntur.
