Shillong, Oct 26: Marso Kyndait, of Sabah Muswang in West Jaintia Hills, won Meghalaya’s first gold medal at the ongoing North East Olympic Games in Imphal, Manipur, today.
Kyndait took gold in the 1,500m men’s event with a time of 4 mins, 4.56 sec.
The U-18 athlete started his running in 2011 at his local school in Sabah Muswang and he is currently a Class 12 student at North Liberty Higher Secondary School in Jowai, the district headquarters.
He’s won gold medals in Assam and Bihar and a silver in Kolkata in East Zone tournaments in the past.
