Shillong, Dec 3: The Meghalaya women’s cricket team won their second consecutive Senior Women’s One Day League plate group match today, this time beating Nagaland by 23 runs in Cuttack.
Yesterday, Meghalaya had trounced Mizoram by 10 wickets.
Nagaland won the toss and chose to field, but while they were able to take plenty of quick wickets, Meghalaya opener Saee Purandare’s innings of 84 (13 fours, 1 six) proved to be invaluable. A handy 33 by Trisha Bera and 26 wides and no balls also helped Meghalaya to post 152 all out in 48.1 overs.
In the chase Vandana Mahajan, who claimed eight wickets yesterday, took 4/23 in her 10 overs, while Pinky Chanda bagged 3/32. There was also a wicket each for Purandare (1/10), Bera (1/16) and DD Dutta (1/23) as Nagaland were bowled out for 129 in 45.5 overs.
Meghalaya will next face Arunachal Pradesh on 6th December at the same venue.
