Shillong, Feb 12: Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi has been named by the All India Football Federation in its probables list for the 2020 U-23 AFC Championship Qualifiers to be held in Uzbekistan from 22nd to 26th March, his club Shillong Lajong said today.

The Indian team camp will be held in two phases in Goa from 2nd to 8th March and 16th to 19th March and will play an friendly against the U-23 Qatar team.

India, Pakistan, Tajikistan and hosts Uzbekistan are in Group F of the U-23 Qualifiers.

Kynshi has played in 20 I-League matches for Lajong, having made his debut on 27th November 2017 as a substitute in the first match of that season against Gokulam Kerala in Shillong. He went on to score the first of his five I-League goals in the very next match when he came on as a substitute to score against Churchill Brothers.

He didn’t feature after the fifth match but has been a regular member of the team this season. Kynshi has started in 14 of 15 games of 2018-19 and has racked up a total of nearly 1,200 minutes on the pitch.

The 18-year-old is the first player from Meghalaya to score five I-League goals in Lajong colours.

Kynshi was also part of the Lajong squad that won the 2017-18 U-18 Youth League (now known as the Elite League).
