Shillong, May 27: Marbisu became the third team to come from behind to win in the U-18 Shillong Premier League this year as they defeated Laban 2-1 at Third Ground, Polo, today.

Lumlang Hujon and Moonstar Nongsiej scored in the last 10 minutes of the match for Marbisu after Laban had taken a first half lead through Aplang Buam.

Laban got the lead in the 16th minute when Marbisu goalkeeper Alfarson Kurbah blocked a good shot on goal, but the resulting corner saw the ball fall for Buam who tapped a volley home.

Marbisu had their fair share of chances as well, with Laban custodian Aibanlambha Suchiang forced into making a good save while the score was still 0-0.

Towards the end of the first half Marbisu had a double chance, with a Laban defender clearing a ball off the line, though it only went as far as another Marbisu player, whose shot was headed out for a corner by the defence.

Suchiang had to come off early into the second half and Samid Marbaniang took over goalkeeping duties for Laban. He made several fantastic saves that could’ve really turned the tide of the match, but he couldn’t do anything when, in the 81st minute, Hujon headed in a cross from the right.

Five minutes later speedy Iengskhem Wahlang was denied by the horizontal, but the rebound fell for an unmarked Nongsiej, who bagged the lead for Marbisu with an easy tap-in from right in front of goal.

Tomorrow Ryntih are scheduled to take on Smit at 3:45PM.
