Shillong, May 29: The Meghalaya kurash team brought home a total of 15 medals, including four gold, from the 1st East Zone Kurash Championship, which was held from 24th to 28th May in Agartala.
Kurash is a form of wrestling that has its foundations in Central Asia.
The gold medal winners were Ibalarisha L Nonglait (below 24kg sub-junior girls), Larisha L Nonglait (below 32kg junior girls), Shilpi Banroi (below 40kg junior boys) and Sabinus Jasain (below 55kg senior men).
The lone silver medallist was Emiliana Susngi (below 28kg sub-junior girls), while there were 10 Meghalayans who bagged a bronze medal: Hazellyne Warjri (below 24kg sub-junior girls), Juliana Warjri (below 28kg sub-junior girls), Susie Lyndem (above 40kg junior girls), Ribok Nongbri (below 55kg senior men), Melabatskhem Marbaniang (below 45kg junior boys), Sylvian Kharkongor (below 40kg sub-junior girls), Wanraplang Myrthong (below 50kg junior boys), Vivek Bynroi (below 35kg sub-junior boys), Richfield Wahlang (below 35kg sub-junior boys) and Bobita Roy (below 36kg sub-junior girls).
