Shillong, Jun 17: Nongrim Hills became the fifth team on 10 points with a 4-1 victory over Nongkrem in the U-18 Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium, Polo, today.
In the first match of the day, Langsning hammered Laban 12-1.
The first half was goalless between Nongrim and Nongkrem; this was the first time in six games that Nongkrem kept a clean sheet in the first 45 minutes.
However, in the 51st minute Banshem Kurbah got the breakthrough for Nongrim on the rebound after his team mate Wanbantei Lyngkhoi was neatly blocked by Nongkrem goalkeeper Phredi Sari.
Lyngkhoi, though, was not to be denied later on, scoring a brace in the 68th and 72nd minutes to take him to five goals for the season, tying him at the top with Langsning’s Rikmenlang Nongrum and Tremiki Lamurong.
Mebari Kharbuli then pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute for Nongkrem, but a team mate then conceded an own goal in stoppage time for the game to end 4-1 in Nongrim’s favour.
Tomorrow Ryntih are scheduled to take on Marbisu at 1PM at Third Ground, while Mawkhar are set to face Lawsohtun at 3:45PM at the JN Stadium.
