Shillong, Jul 11: Shillong Lajong played out their last group stage match of the U-18 Shillong Premier League with their 10th successive win after beating bottom club Laban 2-1 at Third Ground, Polo, today. 

Meanwhile, in the other match of the day, Smit and Lawsohtun played out a 1-1 draw. 

After a goalless first half Dajied Wanshnong put Lajong into the lead in the 54th minute but exactly half an hour later Aplang Buam equalised for Laban. However, parity lasted just two minutes as Abhay Gurung restored Lajong’s lead in the 86th minute. 

This was Laban’s last match as well and they finished with six points from 11 games, while toppers Lajong have 31.

In the other fixture Bannangkiew Khriam scored in the 18th minute to give Smit the lead, but Freddy Rani equalised in the 40th with his fourth goal in five games. 

The draw was significant for both sides as they each jumped a place in the standings; Smit (12 points) moved into seventh position, dropping Marbisu (11) down one spot, while Lawsohtun (8) climbed to 10th, displacing Ryntih (7).
