Shillong, Aug 13: Lawsohtun earned their first victory of the First Division 2019 after coming back from a goal down to beat Nongkrem 2-1 at the JN Stadium here today.
Elbren Mawthoh gave Nongkrem a first half lead with a goal in the 28th minute, but Lawsohtun were always in the game, hitting the woodwork in both halves.
Their relentless pressure finally bore fruit with two quick goals provided by J Neihsiel (55′) and R Dkhar (59′). After that they were still aggressive, but they started to find themselves offside on several occasions and there were unable to score again.
Their first win in five games takes Lawsohtun to five points, now ahead of both Nongkrem (4) and bottom side Marbisu (3).
Tomorrow, Mawlai are scheduled to take on Marbisu at 3:15PM.
