Shillong, Aug 25: Meghalaya shooters won three gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the recently-concluded 7th North East Zonal Shooting Championship, which was held at the 4th Assam Police Battalion Shooting Range in Guwahati from 19th to 23rd August.
The Shooting Association of Meghalaya sent a team of 23 shooters (nine female, 14 male) and there were a total of 242 shooters from across the region. Three of the state’s shooters were juniors. The team selection was made after a recent state ranking championship held in Shillong.
There were eight Meghalaya medallists in all, with Balarishisha Rani winning one gold and one bronze.
Rani and six other shooters also set National Minimum Qualifying Scores, which makes them eligible to participate in the National Shooting Championship, to be held in Bhopal in November. The other qualifying shooters are Anjali Singh, Toiabha Mylliempdah, Shirley M Kharbuli, Pynkhraw Kharshiing, Uttam Sinha and Dennyson Kyrsian.

Uttam Sinha – Silver (10m air rifle, junior men)
Dennyson Kyrsian – Gold (50m peep sight, junior men)
