Shillong, Sep 2: Shillong Lajong cruised to a 4-0 victory over Laban in the Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium here today.
This was Laban’s third straight loss and Lajong’s second win.
Naorem Mahesh Singh (51’), Phrangki Buam (54’, 82’) and Donboklang Lyngdoh (63’) were the scorers.
Laban looked to play a slow game right from the start and seemed to have some success of it early on, but some sustained Lajong pressure after 20 minutes almost saw Laban crumble.
However, they went into the break with their heads above water with SLFC unable to score.
But they never looked settled and Lajong scored early second half goals.
Buam went deep on the right and cut the ball back for the opener by Naorem. Three minutes later Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi was the provider, with Buam requiring two bites at the cherry before scoring.
Laban were completely on the back foot, only making two shots in the entire match, neither of them convincing.
Lyngdoh then found his name on the scoresheet in the 63rd minute before Buam bagged his second with less than 10 minutes left on the clock for Laban’s second heavy defeat in a row.
This happened to be the first time that Lajong kept a clean sheet in their opening three games.
Tomorrow Rangdajied United are scheduled to face Nangkiew Irat at 3:30PM.
