Shillong, Nov 11: The Meghalaya Games 2019 will begin on 16th December with athletes contesting a total of 14 disciplines.

This was informed by Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh after a meeting of the Games’ organising committee here today.

The 14 disciplines are archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, billiards & snooker, karate, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, wushu and judo.

Most of the events will be held at the JN Sports Complex here.

The Games will act as a preparatory event for the National Games 2022, which Meghalaya is supposed to host. It will also enable the Meghalaya State Olympic Association and Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs to identify talented young athletes.
