Shillong, Dec 17: Rangdajied United will face Shillong Lajong in the final of the Meghalaya State League 2019 after both teams came through their respective second leg semifinal fixtures today.
In Mawkyrwat, Rangdajied defeated Sutnga 6-1. Their first leg meeting had ended 0-0 in Khliehriat on Saturday.
In Resubelpara, Lajong dominated Druma Sandruma once again, winning by an incredible 11-1 margin to take the aggregate to 21-2. SLFC had won their first leg fixture 10-1 in Jowai on Friday.
Man-of-the-match Phrangki Buam scored a double hat-trick for Lajong, pumping in goals in the 26th, 30th, 36th, 42nd, 69th and 75th minutes as Druma had no answer to the Lajong juggernaut. Samuel Lyngdoh Kynshi also bagged a hat-trick (17′, 64′, 87′) while there were solitary goals for captain Kenstar Kharshong (82′) and Dajiedlang Wanshnong (84′). Bising Marak scored the lone goal for the hosts in the 32nd minute.
The Mawkyrwat match saw six different players score for Rangdajied. Aiborlang Khongjee converted a penalty in the ninth minute, followed by goals for Donlad Diengdoh (23′) and Aenam Jyrwa (33′) to make it 3-0 at the end of the first half.
Two substitutes also got their name on the scoresheet, with Dawanchwa Challam (70′) and Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw (82′) finding the back of the net on either side of a Stephanson Pale goal (75′). Sutnga managed to get one in late in the game, when an Amul Chyrmang shot came off a defender and went into the net in the 90th minute.
Khongjee was named man-of-the-match in this contest.
The final of the second season of the MSL will thus be between two of the biggest Shillong-based clubs and will be held on 21st December. Details of the time and venue will be provided closer to the date by the MFA.
