Shillong, Nov 27: The Meghalaya Cricket Association has launched a grassroots programme, dubbed ‘Catch em Young’, to scout for U-16 boys and girls who deserve places in the state academy, it announced today.

In a press release, MCA Honorary Secretary Gideon Kharkongor said that the programme has begun at Umbuda ground in Nongpoh and camps will also be held in Mendipathar, Baghmara and Nongstoin in the first phase. Interested players should contact their respective district cricket associations.

Run simultaneously will be a Training of Trainers programme. These two programmes will be led by BCCI Level A coach Sengam Momin and Level 1 coaches Leonard Wankhar, Neetesh Sharma, Sudesh Pradhan, Moesten Marak and Synrapsing Raitham.

Meanwhile, Kharkongor also announced that the MCA’s senior selection camp will be held at Alotgre ground in Tura on 7th to 11th December. Iohbor Blah is the Chairman of the committee, which also comprises Manik Das and Saljagringrang Marak. 

He also announced that the general body meeting of the MCA will be held on December 5 in Shillong.
