Shillong, Feb 11: Sumer CC lost their B Division match of the Shillong Cricket League by four runs to Sales XI after one of their players arrived late, delaying the start of the match, for which the club were penalised three overs.

Sales XI won the toss, chose to bat first and made 147/8 in 20 overs, with man-of-the-match Pinku Deb (pictured right) top-scoring with 55 from 43 deliveries. Akash Lyngdoh bowled an impressive spell of 4/3 in four overs.

Sumer would’ve probably won the match had they had their full 20 overs. As it happens, they ended on 143/3 in 17 overs. Deekreak Chandra smashed 78 off just 47 balls for Sumer. Ayan Deb claimed all three wickets, giving away just 10 runs in the process.

The second contest of the day saw Slog Warriors defeat Golflink XI by 23 runs.

Slog Warriors had to bat first after Golflink XI elected to field first and they posted 143/9 on the board from their 20 overs. Ankit Ojha claimed 5/19 and Abid Khan 3/30 but Slog Warriors were still able to score at over seven runs per over. Prabhakar Turha top-scored with 27 and Sanjay Khan made 21.

In the chase Golflink XI were dismissed for 120 in 17.2 overs. Siddharth Turha (3/24) and Suraj Turha (3/24) claimed the most wickets, but it was Khan who was named man-of-the-match for his 2/21 and 21 runs in the first innings.

Yesterday, Cluster CC defeated Innings Star CC by 62 runs, Occult CC were 39-run victors over Metallica.
