Shillong, Oct 27: The West Jaintia Hills District Sports Association held a send-off for Niaw Wasa before they depart for New Delhi where they will represent the state at the inaugural Futsal Club Championship.
The short function was held at Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Jowai.
The 16-team national futsal tournament will run from 5th to 13th November. It was originally scheduled to be held in Shillong but was moved to the national capital earlier this month. Niaw Wasa qualified for the national event by winning the Meghalaya State Futsal League at the start of this month.
Those present on the occasion today were Niaw Wasa United President Monlang Nongtdu, WJDSA Working President EMH Passah, WJDSA Honorary General Secretary L Laloo and WJDSA Treasurer Junemon Paswet.
