Shillong, Nov 4: A half-century from Kishan Lyngdoh (pictured right) and forty-plus by Chirag Khurana (left) gave Meghalaya victory by nine wickets in their opening Plate Group match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh, today.
After restricting Mizoram, who won the toss and chose to bat, to 102/3 in their 20 overs, Meghalaya smashed their way to 106/1 in 14.1 overs.
Lyngdoh struck eight fours and the only six of the match in his 52, which came off 38 deliveries. His opening partner, Khurana, made 42 off 37.
Lyngdoh was dismissed in the 12th over, which meant that Rohit Shah was brought in and he finished the chase on 11 not out.
Earlier, Dippu Sangma (1/21) and Khurana (1/23) were the wicket-taking bowlers for Meghalaya. The other Mizoram wicket to fall was via a run out, which was effected by Chengkam Sangma.
Meghalaya will next play Sikkim tomorrow.
