Shillong, Nov 4: Rynjah began their campaign in the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division today with a rollicking 5-0 victory over Mawshbuit thanks to a hat-trick by Oshalson Nongbri at Polo Ground.
Meanwhile, Mawpat and Gorkha Association played out a 1-1 draw in the other Group B match.
Rynjah had been promoted after they won 2019’s Fourth Division and they couldn’t have begun this year’s Third Division in a better fashion. Nongbri scored in the 28th, 36th and 66th minutes, with Rangehbok Lyngkhoi (37′) and Shankerlang Kshiar (70′) also adding to Rynjah’s tally.
Later, Thymmaibor Mukhim put Gorkha Association in front in only the fourth minute but Phrangsngi Kurbah managed to find the equaliser in the 43rd for Mawpat and 1-1 is how the match ended.
