Shillong, Feb 22: United XI CC lifted the Shillong Cricket Association’s Super Division trophy after winning the final by a convincing 73 runs over Royal CC at the MCA Cricket Ground, Polo, here today.
United XI won the toss and elected to bat first and they made 193/5 in 40 overs. Man-of-the-match Rohit Shah dominated with the bat, scoring 72, while Yogesh Tiwari provided a helpful 34. Bipin Ray (1/40) and Aaron AR Nongrum (1/41) claimed a wicket each for Royal CC.
A great performance in the field by United XI then saw the Royals bundled out for 120 in 31.2 overs. Abir Chakraborty (4/18) and Bijon Dey (4/33) were the top performers with the ball, while Nishanta Chakraborty (31) and Abhishek Kumar (25) provided the most runs for Royal CC, albeit in a losing cause.
United XI’s Jason Lamare was named man-of-the-series following the end of the game, where his team also got their hands on the trophy.
The closing ceremony was attended by Jaiaw MDC Paul Lyngdoh as chief guest, as well as Honorary Secretary of the Meghalaya Cricket Association Gideon Kharkongor and senior members of the SCA.
