Shillong, May 27: Larikupar Nongkynrih (featured photo) scalped 5/16 as Friends United CC defeated Laitjem CC by 98 runs in their match of the East Khasi Hills’ Cricket Association’s T20 Tournament today.

In the other game, Nongdawah CC won a rain-affected contest against Pomshutia CC by seven wickets.

Laitjem won the toss and opted to field first but Friends United posted a challenging 186/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Kitdor Majaw struck 51 off 43 deliveries, while Ernestin Swer bludgeoned 42 off 21.

In reply, Laitjem were bowled out for 88 in 14.3 overs, with Mebanshan Kharsati the top scorer with 30 off 18.

Earlier, Pomshutia won the toss and chose to bat first but were all out for 100. Banshaniah Pohtam made 29 from 17 balls, while Bhaboklang Nongpluh claimed 3/18.

Rain then reduced the chase to 10 overs and Nongdawah were set a revised target of 60, which they reached in just six overs for the loss of three wickets. Nongpluh made 19 from 12 and was named player-of-the-match. Pohtam, meanwhile, bagged 2/18.
