Shillong, Dec 12: The East Khasi Hills Cricket Association began its U-13 Boys’ T20 Challenger Trophy in Marbisu today.

Players for the competition have been drawn from recent talent searches conducted by the association.

In the first match, the toss was won by Symper Rangers, who bowled first and restricted Laitlum Hitters to 99/5 in 20 overs. Everbloom Nongrum made 22 and Menang Shangpliang 16 as Pynshngain Sohkhlet bagged 1/12.

In reply, Symper were all out for 46 in 9 overs, with Dame Wanbiang Shadap’s (21 from 13 deliveries) heroics going in vain. Mekhaw Pyrkhat took 3/11 in one eventful over.

The second match also saw Symper involved in action and this time they smashed 137/8 in 20 overs after put in to bat by Mawlynnong Fighters, who won the toss. Shadap blazed 70 from just 26 deliveries, while Damiam Kupar Shylla collected 2/9 in 4 economical overs.

In reply, the Fighters were dismissed for 83 in 12.1 overs, with Hamebandap War top-scoring with 43 from 28. Othaniel Lyngdoh Nonglait produced a fine spell of bowling to take 4/10 in 3.1 overs.
